Our research group (EDM-LAB) brings comprehensive expertise in the design, measurement, and modeling of RF and mmWave components and systems.
Our core competencies include:
- MMIC and Hybrid Design: LNA and PA development from C- to Q-band, with a focus on III-V technologies (GaAs and GaN).
- Measurement & Modeling: On-wafer and over-the-air linear and nonlinear characterization, advanced transistor modeling, behavioral modeling of PAs/FEMs.
- System-Level TX Techniques: Development of characterization methods and architectures for digital predistortion (DPD), supply modulation/envelope tracking, reconfigurable multi-input PAs, and active antenna arrays.
These activities are backed by our state-of-the-art microwave measurement laboratory, featuring characterization capabilities up to 110 GHz.
We are actively seeking to join an SNS JU 2026 consortium for the "STREAM-B-02: Front End Module FEM" call as an academic partner. We offer a proven track record of successful execution in Horizon Europe, European Space Agency (ESA), and industry-funded projects.
The University of Bologna is a leading research university in Italy. The activities of the EDM-LAB group in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering "Guglielmo Marconi" (DEI) focus on the design and characterization of devices, circuits and systems for RF and Power electronics.
