Sensor calibration and validation
The National Spectrum Centre (NSC) is a joint venture between the Welsh Government and Aberystwyth University. The aim of the NSC is to provide a research, development and innovation (RDI) ecosystem to foster innovation and commercialisation in the domain of radio frequency (RF) spectrums, be it in spectrum regulation, standardisation, telecommunication (5G/6G), radar and electronic defence, smart cities, smart agriculture, Industry 4.0 and 5.0.
The unique value propositions from the NSC are twofold.
1- We aim to be the one-stop solution for all your RDI needs to enhance the technological readiness level (TRL) of your innovations. For example:
o you may be a startup working on a telecommunication sub-system. We can help you to mature your innovation through research partnerships. We can, then, work with you in detailing the test and validation needs for your subsystem; run those tests and co-develop the insights from these tests.
o Or, you may be a border security company interested in validating the performance of a new surveillance system for our coasts. We can co-develop the test and validation procedures with you for this. We would then help you to run these test and measurement campaigns (which, at times, may last for months) and work with you in developing the reports for the test results.
o Or, you may be a town council interested in exploring the use of IoT and LORA in reducing the number of accidents in your town centre. We can work with you to explore the solutions, prototype them in our labs, install them in your town and provide you with an initial report suggesting the best course of action.
2- We aim to provide an integrated spectrum test range where a wide range of tests could be performed for communication and radar systems and subsystems for various bandwidths.
