CIRCE is a research entity with large experience in EU projects (around 60 HORIZON funded projects, includind 15 as coordinators). We have a large network of contacts in the energy and telecommunication sectors including power systems operators with access to large infrastructure for demonstration purposes. Potential contributions to the SNS topics include:
- AI strategies in distributed computing scenarios aimed at managing and controlling computing energy consumption
- Development of IoT component and devices with zero-energy characteristics
- Introduction of avdance communication systems in large demo-sites from the energy sector
- Collaboration in the integration of secure 6G technologies and applications in the energy sector
An example of our work in this areas we can highlight eFORT project (https://efort-project.eu/), which implements solutions at TSO, DSO and distributed levels to make European power grids more resilients and reliable against failures, cyberattacks, physical disturbances and data privacy issues. In addition to our work as coordinators, we are in charge of developing the "secure box", a gateway that incorporates 6G and cybersecurity solutions to secure the conexion between IoT and electrical equipment with upper management and control levels.
CIRCE Foundation (Centre of Research for Energy Resources and Consumption) was established in 1993 as an independent Research Centre to create and develop solutions and scientific/technical knowledge and to transfer them to the business sector in the field of energy.
Over 300 professionals with a broad variety of profiles compose the team of people working at CIRCE. CIRCE maintains a national leadership position in the focus area of Low-carbon and climate resilient future, being the first national Research Centre getting more projects in competitive calls within the EU framework programme in Spain according to the EC dashboard.
As proof of its experience in international projects, CIRCE has participated in over a hundred of European projects. Currently CIRCE is involved in 76 H2020, being coordinator of 22; and 58 Horizon Europe projects, coordinating 15 of them.
