Expertise offered: The Borderstep Institute has a long record in research on data centres, cloud and telco sustainability assessment and regarding business models for innovations. We participated in multiple public funding from EU and national authorities. Also we are providing direct consultation towards the EU, for example for Energy Efficiency Directive especially on the new regualtion and data collection on data centres.
Expertise offered: We can offer standalone comb lasers which can be used as a demonstrator or for evaluation. Our comb laser comes in a 3U rack mounted appliance. We also design and develop high speed and high-conversion efficiency combs for use in AI interconnects. Our photonics technology helps in extreme-bandwidth data transmission. A photonic engine designed for integration at the chip scale, facilitating high speed and ultra high efficiency data transmission across 100 channels using a single laser source.
Expertise offered: Ultra-low power battery-free Internet of Things (IoT) sensors for precise monitoring of indoor agri-food facilities such as greenhouses. Our patent-protected innovation is the extremely low-power consumption for bi-directional communication between the IoT devices and the network, enabling long-range sensor data communication without any batteries. Problems solved: high energy/labor costs, inefficient use of resources due to a low automation, inflexible sensors, contaminant batteries for growing food.
