The EDM-Lab Group at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering (DEI), University of Bologna, is a leading research team specializing in the development of RF electronic components and systems.
We actively collaborate on multiple HORIZON-EU and European Space Agency (ESA) projects and operate dedicated, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for RF measurements across the full frequency spectrum.
Our expertise covers a wide range of domains, including:
- Design of RF front-end components: PAs, LNAs, VCOs, both in MMIC and hybrid implementations up to the Q-band, particularly using GaN technology
- RF device characterization, including small-signal (S-parameters, noise figure) and large-signal (NVNA, load-pull, modulated signals) measurement techniques
- Linear and nonlinear modeling and simulation of RF devices and systems
- Efficiency and linearity enhancement techniques (supply modulation, digital predistortion), development and characterization of active antenna arrays
ALMA MATER STUDIORUM - University of Bologna is one of the leading research and higher-education institutions in Italy with 96,945 students and 3,448 research/teaching staff across 5 campuses. The university promotes research with a view to the advancement of society and collective well-being, with over 370 projects funded at European level, over 780 at national level and over 630 at regional and local level.
