6G-Driven R&D on Base Stations, Mobile Networks, and Innovations
ULAK Communications Inc. is a leading R&D company in Türkiye specializing in LTE/5G base stations, 5G core networks, and software-defined networking (SDN, SD-WAN) technologies. Our expertise also extends to vertical applications such as V2X communication, public safety, and private network solutions.
As part of our forward-looking 6G efforts, our R&D team is actively developing Standard Essential Patent (SEP)-focused innovations. Our core objective is to transform these patented technologies into contributions to 3GPP standards and, ultimately, integrate them into commercial-grade products. This SEP-to-standard-to-product approach drives our long-term innovation strategy. Since 2023, we have generated over 100 novel ideas, with a strong commitment to aligning our research with ongoing 3GPP discussions. Our research focuses on areas such as MIMO and advanced antenna systems, cellular V2X communication, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), AI/ML for communication systems, Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), and waveform design and channel control mechanisms.
Our team consists of expert engineers, IPR specialists, and academic collaborators, including professors from Istanbul Medipol University (Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Arslan and the CoSINC Lab) and Middle East Technical University (Prof. Dr. Elif Uysal). This strong ecosystem allows us to conduct high-impact research while bridging academia and industry.
We are currently seeking collaboration opportunities under the SNS JU 2025 Work Programme, with particular interest in the following topics: Advanced Architectures Systems and Technologies (STREAM-B-01-01), Advanced IoT and Device Technologies (STREAM-B-01-02), Wireless Communication Technologies and Signal Processing – Standardisation and PoCs (STREAM-B-02), and 6G NTN-TN Unification/Integration (STREAM-B-03-01). We are eager to join strong consortia, contribute our R&D capabilities, and co-develop innovative solutions for 6G.

Brief description of my Organisation
Türkiye’s national and local product, the ULAK Base Station, was developed under the main contractorship of ASELSAN in collaboration with NETAŞ and ARGELA. The developed base station solutions meet the needs of civil security, public safety, and military communication.
The ULAK Base Station is actively used in the commercial areas of established operators in Türkiye, such as Turk Telekom, Turkcell, and Vodafone. Additionally, the ULAK base station is utilized in rural areas as part of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure’s Universal 1, Universal 2, and Universal 3 projects aimed at establishing base stations.
In the development of ULAK’s 5G base station, technological advancements were achieved for R&D processes in 5G and beyond technologies by leveraging 4.5G productization experience, field expertise, and advantages derived from similarities between technologies. In addition to its software and hardware development expertise, ULAK Base Stations, which have been providing live services for a long time, quickly resolve all kinds of issues with 24/7 alarm and performance monitoring support. In addition to the base station product offered in mobile networks, ULAK Communications also provides corporate customers with SDN-based wide area network SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network), software-defined data center SD-DC (software-defined data center), and software-defined security SD-Security solutions. These products are used in the infrastructure of many institutions and organizations in Türkiye.
